I received the happy news a few weeks ago but wanted to make sure all the particulars were in order before I announced. Red Hen Press, a nonprofit literary press in California, will be publishing the book, which is expected to be released in trade paperback in March 2013. Here is Red Hen’s website: www.redhen.org. It may or may not retain the original title but I will let you know as soon as I hear. Many of my photographs will be accompanying the prose so I’m thrilled about that as well.
Each narrative chapter of the book will be preceded by a journal entry and photograph. I have many, many more journal entries than chapters so I’ve picked the ones I think tell the most complete story.
The blog may change some over the coming months – so I hope old readers will continue to check in.
The personal stories, support, information, and compassion you’ve shown as I struggle to become a better parent and more effective voice for FASD ceases to amaze and humble me.
If you’re new to the blog – welcome. To read the book’s beginning chapters, please scroll to the bottom of this screen, hit “next page” on the lower left corner, and then scroll again to your screen’s bottom. That’s where you’ll find a brief Introduction & Prologue, then Chapter 1, etc. Read “up” for each subsequent chapter. Older 2010 journal entries are filed under “Pages” on the right hand column.
BTW: Peter comes home tomorrow for Christmas break and we couldn’t be more thrilled. I’ll sleep well knowing both our children are home with us, safe and sound.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays! Mary

This is spectacular. Congratulations. I am so happy for you and your family and all families that deal with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I am grateful for everything you shared.
On a different note, could you forward me your email. I would like to run a writing related offer to you.
All my best, Christiane

Congratulations on finding a publisher! As a writer, you have a real gift for connecting with a reader. I’m hoping that your editor doesn’t mess with the title which I think is not only a perfect distillation of what goes on inside Peter, but it also, as a title, will instantly interest potential readers.

We used Adoption Source, which is now out of business (good thing – they are crooks, if you ask me). I understand that
Cradle of Hope still operates in that Region. Good luck!
